we’re done serving.
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veteran’s service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. We trace our roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans’ pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves. Our voice was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, development of the national cemetery system, in the fight for compensation for Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange and for veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome.
Serve Veterans and Their Families:
This includes ensuring veterans receive their earned benefits and entitlements, providing support during their transition to civilian life, and assisting their families
Foster Comradeship:
The VFW aims to preserve and strengthen the bonds among its members, creating a community where veterans can connect with others who share similar experiences.
Promote Patriotism:
The organization actively promotes civic responsibility and patriotism, emphasizing loyalty to the Constitution and the institutions of American freedom
Honor Military Service:
This includes remembering the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and honoring the service of all who have served their country
Community Service:
The VFW is dedicated to serving communities through various programs and initiatives, making a positive impact at local and national levels
Advocacy:
The VFW advocates on behalf of all veterans, ensuring their rights and needs are recognized and addressed by legislators and the public
